Chris is an executive, speaker and thinker. When he's not building products and technical organizations, he is writing about technology, philosophy - or on stage making tough concepts approachable.
"I have loved technology for as long as I can remember. Diablo 1 on dial-up. Soundblaster 16 and PVR capture cards, Counter-Strike 1.5 and Photoshop 3 (layers!). I see beauty in the environment, machines, minds, music and humans.
In 2005 I co-founded an analytics consulting team here in Canada. I spent every day building: data pipelines and architecture, semantic layers, visual interfaces and statistical models. Then I built teams of data engineers, scientists and developers to solve hard analytical and scientific problems for companies around the world. Most problems can be reduced down to simple parts, respecting the systems in which they exist.
Always learning, I absorb as much as possible - science, history, technology and human stories. My rabbit holes are mostly on Lesswrong. I am anti-buzzword, too much hype out there.
Creativity is everything. Machines are a tool to enrich the human experience, not replace it. The opportunity to design models, visuals and software to make our world better is a privilege."
Here are a few pieces of content I have participated in:
I like to share what I learn and observe, and used to send this to a circle of others who found some value in it. I will write my own posts too, but here are a few things that amuse, challenge, inspire.
